چکیده

Proceedings of GeoComputation ‘97 & SIRC ‘97 Effective mineral exploration requires a detailed knowledge of the factors and processes which result in the formation of economic deposits. To apply this knowledge, a sound three-dimensional understanding of the geology and structure of a region is required. In most cases, surface geology can be mapped with a high degree of accuracy, however, the geology at depth has to be inferred from geophysical methods, or through drilling programs, and is therefore mapped at much lower spatial resolution. This anisotropy in spatial-data quality, coupled with the scarcity of three dimensional geographic information systems (GIS), makes computer-based exploration at a campor districtscale very difficult.

GIS Modelling of Gold Prospectivity in New Zealand

Gold production in New Zealand has been significant since the mid 1800s, totalling 900 t (29 Moz) to 2005. In addition, there is potential for a further 1230 t (39.5 Moz) of gold in known and undiscovered deposits. Most of the gold has originated from epithermal and mesothermal (orogenic) hydrothermal systems. Epithermal gold occurs in the Northland, Coromandel and Taupo volcanic zones in quart...

Three-Dimensional Model of Cangshang Gold Mine Based on Surpac

The three-dimensional geological model of Cangshang Gold Mine, including the geological database, ore body model and block model, was established by mining software Surpac, which simplified the complicated hand-drawing and reserve calculation. The three-Dimensional development system visualization was also studied on the basis of conducting the vectorization of the whole development system desi...

Volume modeling of soils using GRASS GIS 3D-Tools

The analysis of spatial variability of soils has been of interest to soil scientists and geographers for quite some time. Information on soil properties are usually available from a limited number of point measurements and spatial estimates are prepared in two dimensions (e.g. by interpolation or other technique). However, soil is essentially a 3D object with varying properties in all spatial d...

Modeling and visualizing urban sprawl and carbon footprints in Phoenix metropolitan area

Urban planners are dealing with problems of urban sprawl and CO2 emissions. The multidimensional character of these phenomena requires new analysis and visualization tools that are unavailable in platforms like the Geographical Information Systems (GIS). This paper, first, presents an approach for measuring and monitoring urban sprawl and carbon footprints. Second, it offers a three-dimensional...

A 3d Geovisualization Approach to Crime Mapping

This contribution presents an approach to visualize crime scene analysis results with three-dimensional geovirtual environments. Commonly, the results of those crime data analyses are published trough thematic maps. Therefore cartographic visualizations can be considered as a key element to communicate the outcomes of crime analysis. Those visualizations produced by crime analysts both in opera...
